COVID-19: The Change

This whole Covid-19 situation has put a real damper on modern life and has seriously affected how we conduct our every day business. While we may still be allowed to go out for walks and bike rides, other countries aren't quite so fortunate to have these same luxuries. Take Italy, for example. At one point considered to be the epicentre of the virus, they were hit especially hard because of the fact that they have a large percentage of elderly people in that country. Fortunately, they seem to be past the worst bit so hopefully they can go back to normal life within the next couple of months. One country that seems to be ahead of the rest in terms of recovery is Germany. The healthcare system they have they is really good and they worked well and efficiently to see the virus through in a relatively short amount of time. It is evident they are slowly letting people get back to what they were doing before the virus hit hardest, but they are being cautious and their plan seems to be working. It is countries like Germany that everyone else should be following in order to avoid a lot of deaths and to limit the amount of financial and economic damage that a country will suffer. One nation that seems to be doing the opposite of what Germany and the rest of the world is doing is Sweden. Life is being conducted  there as per usual but the residents are being advised to try to respect their social distancing measures. It is interesting to see how the approach pans out as they are one of the only countries to be trying this out. However, scientists predict that it won't go down well and some are asking the Swedish government to follow in the footsteps of other nations who are approaching the situation differently.
Finally, we have the United  States. The loose cannon of the UN, they're basically the equivalent of sticking a pig in a chicken enclosure. All I'm saying is, they don't know what they're doing and feel as though they're better than everyone else. As a whole, the nations response to the pandemic is nothing short of dreadful and disappointing. New York is the current epicentre of the virus and are on full lock down. This, I can respect and I pray they get through this as soon as possible. However, other states don't seem to be taking it so seriously and will most likely face the consequences in the coming weeks if they don't change their approach. I speak specifically about Florida, where schools are closed, beaches are opening and the death toll rises. Now I'm not saying I'm surprised it's Florida who's doing something strange, but surely they are aware that having families flock to the beaches in the middle of a global pandemic might not be the best idea. However, it's not just the Floridian folk who are going against what's recommended at this time. In multiple states across the country such as Oregon and Colorado, there are literal protests where people are coming together and demanding the restrictions get lifted saying that it goes against their constitutional rights and whatnot. Nevertheless, Mr Trump needs to screw his head on right and get his country in order, otherwise, his re-election hopes are good as done.

Thanks for tuning into this blog today, if you enjoyed it be sure to self-isolate and stay safe during these unusual times. If you didn't enjoy it then that's unfortunate, but that doesn't change what I expect of you.
Have a lovely day.
I will see myself out.
